**Abstract Narrative Artist Anthony Smith Jr.** holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Amherst College and an M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Michigan.
His works have been featured in several exhibitions, including:
- "Might Real/Queer" at the Detroit Exhibit
- "Telling Our Story" at the David Driskell Center, University of Maryland
- House Gallery in Bethlehem, PA (2016, 2019, and 2022)
- "Troping the Colors: Between Painting and Sculpture" at Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA (2025)
Smith's work has been reviewed in notable publications such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Detroit Free Press, and Artist's Magazine. He has taught at various institutions, including the University of Michigan, Parsons, Princeton, MICA, Lehigh, and Muhlenberg Colleges.
He has also served as an artist-in-residence at several prestigious locations:
- National Academy of Design (2006–2008)
- Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT (2016 and 2022)
- MacDowell Residency in Peterborough, NH (2023)
- Banana Factory Art Center (2014–2024)
Internationally, Smith traveled to Senegal, Africa, in January 2023, as part of the CAORC-WARC Faculty Development Seminar, and to Sanquhar, Scotland, for Kolaj Magazine's Collage: Scotland residency program.
Smith currently teaches art at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and has a studio at the Juxta Hub Art Center in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.
